This magnificent sculpture would take pride of place on anyone's front door! Odin, the All Father, Norse God of war, sovereignty, wisdom, magic, shamanism, poetry, and the dead. He has a long beard and moustache, plaited together below his chin. One of his eyes has a patch on from when he sacrificed it in Mimir’s well and he threw himself on his spear Gungnir in a kind of symbolic, ritual suicide. He then hanged himself in Yggdrasil, the tree of life, for nine days and nine nights in order to gain knowledge of other worlds and be able to understand the runes.
